Removing animal fluids stains from leather

In general: always work on a complete section, from seam to seam. Do not rub only on the stain, this can the stain worse and remains visible even after cleaning. Never use the products directly on the leather but always apply it to a cloth or soft sponge to distribute on to the leather! When in doubt, contact us!


Smooth leathers: (aniline, semi-aniline, saddle or waxed leather, pigmented,  and covered leather)

  1. clean with the Keralux® strong cleaner. Put a small amount of the cleaner into a soft sponge and squeeze the sponge to make foam. Apply the foam to the leather and let it work briefly, but don’t let it dry! The foam has to remove the soiling. Remove the foam with a soft damp cloth (preferably with distilled water to prevent lime scale) 
  2. If you have pigmented or covered leather you can use the more powerful Keralux® active plus. Apply the cleaner to a sponge and squeeze to create foam. Use the foam to dissolve the stain. Let the foam work, but don’t let it dry. Remove the foam with a soft damp cloth (preferably with distilled water to prevent lime scale)
  3. To mask any lingering unpleasant scents you can use the LCK® fresh-up spray
  4. After cleaning the leather use the Keralux® lotion A (aniline leather), Keralux® lotion S (saddle or waxed leather) or the Keralux® lotion P (semi-aniline, covered and pigmented leather) to protect and nourish your leather

 


Nubuck or suede leathers:

  1. clean with the Keralux® strong cleaner. Put a small amount of the cleaner into a soft sponge and squeeze the sponge to make foam. Apply the foam to the leather and let it work briefly, but don’t let it dry! The foam has to remove the soil. Remove the foam with a soft damp cloth (preferably use distilled water to prevent lime scale) 
  2. let the leather dry completely, afterwards you can use the Keralux® cleaning cloth for nubuck to roughen up the leather. 
  3. To mask any lingering unpleasant scents you can use the LCK® fresh-up spray
  4. nourish the leather with Keralux® lotion N
  5. protect the leather with Keralux® spray N

Vintage leathers:

  1. clean with the Keralux® strong cleaner. Put a small amount of the cleaner into a soft sponge and squeeze the sponge to make foam. Apply the foam to the leather and let it work briefly, but don’t let it dry! The foam has to remove the soil. Remove the foam with a soft damp cloth (preferably use distilled water to prevent lime scale) 
  2. To mask any lingering unpleasant scents you can use the LCK® fresh-up spray
  3. nourish the leather with Keralux® lotion Vi
  4. protect the leather with Keralux® spray N

NB every stain is different and every previous treatment of the stain can influence the result. Always try out every product on a hidden area before treating the stain. If in doubt, contact us
