Removing hair sebum (or fat) stains from leather

In general: Always treat an entire section from seam to seam. Do not rub on the stain, this will damage the leather and it will remain visible. When in doubt, contact us.

NB  Not all stains caused by sebum (or hair fat) are removable or get better by treatment. New stains can be cleaned. If you have dark old grease stains in leather it's often better to not do anything at all. Cleaning might cause irreparable damage to the leather.

Smooth leathers: (aniline, saddle or waxed leather*)

  1. clean with te Keralux® degreaser first, following the instructions. Let the powder dry for at least 1-2 hours and then use the furniture atttachment of your vacuum cleaner to remove the powder from the leather.
  2. clean with the Keralux® strong cleaner
  3. in case of colourloss the colour can be renewed with the Keralux® colour repair set
  4. after cleaning protect and nourish the leather with Keralux® lotion A or Keralux® lotion S
