Removing jeans stains or colourtransfer from leather

In generalStains caused by crocking (the color transfer that occurs when fabric rubs against something, such as furniture, shoes, or skin) or colour bleeding (colour transfer that occurs when the fabric gets wet and dye leaches out of the fibers) are caused by the product that leaks dye. Jeans are notorious for causing colour transfer,  some of the dyes are so strong that they can even migrate through the topcoat of pigmented leather. If that happens, only a specialist might be able to help. On full aniline, nubuck, suede or vintage leathers the damage is often irreparable.

When treating stains always work on entire sections from seam to seam. Do not rub only on the stain. When in doubt, contact us.

Smooth leathers: (aniline and saddle or waxed leather)

  1. you can try cleaning with the Keralux® strong cleaner, but the chance of succes is very small. Create lots of foam. The foam has to dissolve the soil as much as possible. Do not rub on the stain. This can damage the leather. Remove the foam with a soft damp cloth (prefereably using distilled water to prevent lime scale)
  2. after cleaning nourish and protect the leather with Keralux® lotion A (aniline) or Keralux® lotion S (saddle or waxed leather)
