Removing sweat stains from leather

In general: always work on a complete section, from seam to seam. Do not rub only on the stain, this can make the stain worse an remains visible even after cleaning. When in doubt, contact us!

NB: We can not garantee that stains caused by sweat are removable, not all stains get "better" or "as new". Beginning stains are treatable. In case of year old dark placards in the leather it's often better to not do anything at all. Cleaning might result in irreparable damage. When in doubt please contact us.

Smooth leathers:  (aniline, saddle or waxed leather*)

  1. remove coarse contaminations with a spoon or the blunt side of a knife
  2. use the furniture attachment of your vacuum-cleaner to remove the remains
  3. clean with the Keralux® degreaser according to the instructions. Let the powder dry for at least 1-2 hours. Afterwords use the furniture attachment of your vacuum-cleaner to remove the powder from the leather.
  4. clean with the Keralux® strong cleaner. Put a small amount of the cleaner into a soft sponge and squeeze the sponge to make foam. Apply the foam to the leather and let it work briefly, but don’t let it dry! The foam has to remove the soiling as well as the left over degreaser. Remove the foam with a soft damp cloth (preferably with distilled water to prevent lime scale)
  5. in case of colour loss the colour can be renewed using the Keralux® colour repair set
  6. nourish and protect the leather with Keralux® lotion A (aniline leather) or Keralux® lotion S (saddle or waxed leather)

*Be aware with saddle or waxed leather that the decreaser makes no difference between the grease stain and the waxed finish of your leather. Always be sure to test the product on a hidden area before using it. If you are in doubt feel free to contact us!
