Removing paint stains from leather

In general: always work on a complete section, from seam to seam. Do not rub only on the stain, this can the stain worse and remains visible even after cleaning. Never use the products directly on the leather but always apply it to a cloth or soft sponge to distribute on to the leather! When in doubt, contact us!


Smooth leathers: (aniline leather)

  1. use the Keralux® ballpoint remover II according to the instructions
  2. clean with the Keralux® strong cleaner. Put a small amount of the cleaner into a soft sponge and squeeze the sponge to create foam. Apply the foam to the leather and let it work briefly, but don’t let it dry! The foam has to remove the soiling and neutralize the colour remover in the Keralux® ballpoint remover II. Remove the foam with a soft damp cloth (preferably with distilled water to prevent lime scale) 
  3. nourish and protect the leather with the  Keralux® lotion A (aniline leather)

Smooth leathers: (saddle or waxed leather)

NB the Keralux® ball ballpoint remover II doesn’t differentiate between the wax finish of the leather and the ink stain. With this type of leather be aware that the treatment may cause more damage to the leather. When in doubt please contact us. 

  1. use the Keralux® ballpoint remover II according to the instructions
  2. clean with the Keralux® strong cleaner. Put a small amount of the cleaner into a soft sponge and squeeze the sponge to create foam. Apply the foam to the leather and let it work briefly, but don’t let it dry! The foam has to remove the soiling and neutralize the colour remover in the Keralux® ballpoint remover II. Remove the foam with a soft damp cloth (preferably with distilled water to prevent lime scale) 
  3. nourish and protect the leather with the Keralux® lotion S (saddle or waxed leather)

Smooth leathers: (semi-aniline, pigmented or covered leather) 

  1. clean with the Keralux® magic ink roller plus according to the instructions
  2. clean with the Keralux® cleaner active plus. Put a small amount of the cleaner into a soft sponge and squeeze the sponge to make foam. Apply the foam to the leather and let it work briefly, but don’t let it dry! The foam has to remove the soiling and neutralize the colour remover in the Keralux® magic ink roller plus. Remove the foam with a soft damp cloth (preferably with distilled water to prevent lime scale). 
  3. nourish and protect the leather with the  Keralux® lotion P (semi-aniline, covered and pigmented leather)

Nubuck and suède leathers:

  1. use the Keralux® ballpoint remover II according to the instructions (on light coloured leathers the stain may remain visible)
  2. clean with the Keralux® strong cleaner. Put a small amount of the cleaner into a soft sponge and squeeze the sponge to create foam. Apply the foam to the leather and let it work briefly, but don’t let it dry! The foam has to remove the soiling and neutralize colour remover in the Keralux® ballpoint remover II. Remove the foam with a soft damp cloth (preferably with distilled water to prevent lime scale)  
  3. let the leather dry before using the Keralux® cleaning cloth for nubuck to roughen up the leather
  4. nourish the leather with Keralux® lotion N 
  5. protect the leather with Keralux® spray N with UV-filter

Vintage leathers

  1. use the Keralux® ballpoint remover II according to the instructions (on light coloured leathers the stain may remain visible) 
  2. clean again with the Keralux® strong cleaner. Put a small amount of the cleaner into a soft sponge and squeeze the sponge to create foam. Apply the foam to the leather and let it work briefly, but don’t let it dry! The foam has to remove the soiling and neutralize colour remover in the Keralux® ballpoint remover II. Remove the foam with a soft damp cloth (preferably with distilled water to prevent lime scale) 
  3. nourish the leather with Keralux® lotion Vi 
  4. protect the leather with Keralux® spray N with UV-filter

If there is colourloss after the treatment you can use the Keralux® colour repair set  to retouch the colour before you protect the leather again. (NB before using the lotion A, S, P or the spray N)


NB every stain is different and every previous treatment of the stain can influence the result. Always try out every product on a hidden area before treating the stain. If in doubt, contact us
