Removing bloodstains from textile and microfibre

Removing bloodstains from textile and microfibre

Fresh bloodstains

If the stain is fresh and still wet, immediately soak the fabric in cold water*. Try to dilute the bloodstain with the water. Do not rub over the stains but instead gently blot it using a clean cloth.

You can use a vacuum-cleaner and a clean cloth to remove excess water from you textile upholstery. To do this first of all remove the attachments from your vacuum-cleaner (max. 500 Watt). Wrap a clean cloth around the nuzzle. Slowly go over the wet fabric, the clean cloth will collect the water. Be sure to change to a dry surface every few seconds so that water won’t run into your vacuum-cleaners motor.

*Be aware that some fabrics are not suitable for wet cleaning. Always read the washing instruction of your fabric before using water or any water based products.

Older and dried bloodstains

Removing old and dried bloodstains is very difficult and the longer you wait the more difficult it gets. You can try cleaning your textile upholstery by using the cleaning products that are suitable for your fabric as listed below. Remember to always clean an entire section from seam to seam according to the instructions. Remove solid contaminations with a spoon or the blunt side of a knife. Never rub on one specific spot, this can cause a discolouration compared to the rest of the fabric.

Please note: while our advices are carefully put together they are no guaranty that every stain can be removed. When in doubt you can always contact us!
